The Khajuraho Group of Monuments is one of India’s most celebrated temple complexes, built between 950–1050 AD by the Chandela dynasty. Famous for intricate carvings, fine sandstone sculptures, and unique art representing life, love, spirituality, and divine union. Divided into Western, Eastern, and Southern groups of temples. Important temples: Kandariya Mahadeva, Lakshmana, Vishwanath, Parsvanath, Duladeo, and Chitragupta temples. Only the Matangeshwar Temple remains an active place of worship today; the others are archaeological heritage.
